Jannes releases new music. With the number Dance with me until morning the Emmer singer goes back to basics.

On his new album the King of the pirates hear characteristic sounds reminiscent of previous hits like Just go away. “It’s feeling, being together and loving; you feel that when you hear the sound of the song again. That suits me very much.”

And that recognizable sound is not surprising, because producer Martin Sterken from Valthermond contributed to the new song. “We have been friends from the start and you should never forget where you come from.”

“I already had the song, which was a cover, and Martin put his own spin on it and added a Dutch text. I am very happy with that.”

The latest song shows the characteristic Greek atmosphere, which always seems to be appreciated by his fans. “If you look back in the old box, you will see that I made that 25 years ago, with I want to go to Greece“, says Jannes. “It has Greek sounds, a lot of bouzouki (string instrument, ed.) and it is sing-along. That music will never let me go.”

Those who hope that the song is the prelude to a new album should abandon that thought. “If we are honest, an album is outdated,” says Jannes. “It costs a lot of money. Maybe one day I will come up with four to seven songs, as a nice special abroad, for the fans.”

The singer calls this changing time in which physical albums are losing out compared to online streams ‘unfortunate’. “You used to have more contact with your fans at CD presentations and you would still sing at a store to promote your album, but that is no longer the case. There is just less of that tangible.”

The singer is therefore mainly focusing on his next two shows in Ahoy, the first of which was sold out in no time. Also for the extra show, 7,000 tickets have already been sold.

“I am very happy, very proud and very grateful,” says Jannes about his loyal fan base. “Ahoy is a music temple, and after having performed there last year I wanted to tie some shows to it.”
