This is a building in Visserstraat, a busy shopping street in the center. Five buildings in the area have been demolished. During the latest demolition, an adjacent building was reportedly hit. Subsidence and cracks are already visible, and the building is in danger of falling over. A woman and her two children have been evacuated.

The city has now announced that the building will be demolished in a controlled manner. Mayor Björn Prasse: “A security perimeter was set up, there was consultation with the residents, they were evacuated and taken care of. The Blankenberge-Zuienkerke police closed the Vissersstraat between Bakkersstraat and Weststraat. The residents at the rear of the building (Nieuwstraat 10-12-14) are temporarily unable to go to their homes. It was confirmed that there is no asbestos in the building.”
