While maternity care is struggling nationally with an aging population and staff shortages, things are different at La Vie in Aarle-Rixtel. Owner Rose Anne Verbakel-Urlings (32) attracts young employees by working with packages where families can opt for extras such as photos and activities with brothers and sisters. This allows her to pay her employees more, although she believes this is not a national solution to the problems in the sector.
The House of Representatives debated on Thursday about the staff shortages, which, according to the Health Care and Youth Inspectorate, lead to birth stops and waiting lists.
