“Caution: nuclear attack.” Ethical hackers even cracked emergency channel BE-Alert in Herentals for Streamz program ‘Hacked’

Last fall, the ethical hackers of the Streamz program ‘Hacked’ had complete control over almost all communication channels in the city of Herentals. They distributed a deepfake video in which Mayor Jan Bertels delivered a message that immediately caused a lot of fuss. They also gained access to BE-Alert, the system that is only used for the most critical emergency messages. HLN tech expert Kenneth Dée was there and explains how the hackers achieved this.
