Paul McCartney was banned from Reddit after a concert post. You can read here why his account disappeared and what an admin explained about a “technical glitch”.
Paul McCartney banned from Reddit? The Beatle shared photos and videos on the platform after his exclusive show in Los Angeles over the weekend.
The event was a “no phone” event. The musician wanted to share a souvenir of the concert with his fans and uploaded a Dropbox link with clips and memorabilia to encourage his followers to share them on social media. He wrote: “We hope you enjoyed last night’s show at the Fonda Theater. Since last night was a cell phone-free event, we wanted to make sure you had some memories to share with friends, family and loved ones.”
Is it all a mistake?
His account was promptly taken down from the platform. Many suspect the Dropbox link may have been classified as spam. It is also unclear whether the account was blocked by AI or human moderators. The content on Reddit is first checked by AI moderators and only subsequently monitored by humans.
Whether that was the reason remained unclear at first – especially since McCartney hadn’t posted anything on Reddit for a long time. An admin finally released a statement: The blocking was simply a technical error that incorrectly showed the account as blocked. The problem has now been resolved.
First album in five years
McCartney will release his first album in five years, “The Boys of Dungeon Lane,” this spring. The album title comes from a line from the track “Days We Left Behind”. The album revolves around McCartney’s past in Liverpool and packs a variety of the musician’s personal memories into songs.
