Things just don’t seem to work out with Leonie ter Braak’s TV career. She now sees a program fail for the umpteenth time, namely RTL Tonight. “That woman has no face of her own.”
Leonie ter Braak can cry: almost everything she touches on television turns into a flop. In two months she will be sitting at home on the couch even more often, because RTL Tonight is going off the air. “Why is Leonie ter Braak unable to really break through as a presenter?” asks TV authority Tina Nijkamp in her podcast Tina’s TV Update.
No face of your own
Things don’t seem to be going well for Leonie, says Tina. “She is now having bad luck again and is now on another flop. This is of course on the one hand because she often takes over programs from people. She did not start it originally herself. She took over that balloon program from Chantal Janzen and HLF8 from Johnny de Mol.”
She took over the B&B Vol Liefde reunion from Art Rooijakkers. “Now again The Perfect Picture on a Journey by Tijl Beckand. As a result, she doesn’t really have her own face. She misses that. And in addition, she does not behave well in interviews.”
Just a job
Tina also doesn’t think Leonie comes across well, for example when she was recently asked about the low viewing figures of RTL Tonight. “Then she says, ‘It’s just a job, it’s just work.’ Then I think: Leonie, that’s not a smart thing to say, because it actually betrays that you are not passionate about it.”
She concludes: “Maybe that is the case, but it doesn’t come across that way to the viewer. I always have the feeling when I look at her: yes, for her it is just a job. That is missing. Even if you think it is just a job, then you should hide it better, I think. You should see it as your passion and something that you prefer to do.”
