How does a family’s lifestyle influence architectural design decisions?
Lot. The routines, customs and daily needs of a family are key to defining how that house will be lived. Designing for a couple who works from home is not the same as designing for a family with young children. From the distribution of the rooms to the storage spaces or meeting places, everything is adapted so that the house works well and accompanies the pace of life of those who live in it.

How can you achieve a house with personality without falling into the trends of the moment?
The secret is to focus on what the client really likes and needs, instead of following what is fashionable. Use noble materials, choose a palette that does not tire over time and add details that make sense for those who are going to live there. This is how you achieve a house with its own character, that does not depend on what you see on the networks and that continues to function and please as time goes by.

Can you have a house with identity without resorting to styles known as “minimalist” or “Nordic”?
Completely. The identity of a home does not arise from following a marked style, but from designing spaces that reflect how each person or family lives. Many times, styles like Nordic or minimalist work well, but they are not the only option. A house with an identity is one that makes sense for those who live in it: that responds to their tastes, their needs and their way of using it. It is not necessary to follow a recognizable aesthetic if the design is well thought out from a functional and personal point of view.

How do you work with clients who come with a lot of ideas taken from Pinterest or Instagram?
It is very common, and it is great that they come with references because it helps to understand what they are looking for. What we do is organize those ideas, understand what they like about each image and adapt it to the real project: their land, their budget and their way of living. Many times these images show solutions that do not apply as is, but do serve as a starting point to reach a more personal and possible proposal.

Is there a formula to achieve a “timeless” house without giving up personality?
More than a formula, it is a way of thinking about design. A timeless home does not need to be neutral or boring. Balance can be achieved by choosing materials that age well, simple lines and clear proportions. Personality is added in the details: a work of art, a texture, a well-chosen color palette. The important thing is that these elements are not guided by fashion, but by the style and history of those who are going to inhabit it. Thus, the house remains current and continues to represent its owners over time.

Designing a timeless house is not a matter of formulas, but of understanding the people who are going to live in it. When the project is born from its history and its way of life, the result transcends fashions. That is, for CHECA ARCHITECTS, the true essence of a home with identity.
