A student in Den Bosch was raped by her best friend’s boyfriend after a night out. 28-year-old Tarek S. from Drunen got into bed with her while his girlfriend slept a few meters away. The student stated that she woke up when Tarek had already penetrated her, after which she ran to a roommate. Tarek denies and claims the sex was consensual. The public prosecutor demanded two years in prison, the verdict will be announced on April 14. Read the whole story here.

A 21-year-old man from Eindhoven was arrested on Saturday afternoon in a terrorism investigation in which the National Unit is investigating whether he has ties to Islamic State. The police used a battering ram to enter the house on Ruysdaelbaan, where officers later viewed images of masked men, firearms and Arabic texts. Local residents are in shock and can hardly believe the news. “He is a sweet boy, whenever I met him he always said hello,” says a neighbor. Check it out here.

For the first time in years, Paaspop has not yet sold out, while the festival is normally fully booked months in advance. According to project manager Jasper van de Wouw, the limit of what people are willing to pay for a festival weekend has been reached. A weekend ticket with camping now costs 275 euros, and the younger target group between 18 and 24 years old is increasingly staying away. “They are very conscious with their money and are happy to stay home on Friday evenings,” says Van de Wouw. The Easter weekend will be spring-like with temperatures between 15 and 18 degrees, although it is still uncertain exactly how nice the weather will be. “We could be dealing with quite a lot of clouds and sometimes a shower, but there could also be some sun,” says weatherman Johnny Willemsen. Until the Easter weekend the weather will be changeable with occasional showers, especially in the east of the province. Wednesday will be a dry day with an alternation of clouds and sun at 12 degrees. Read their analysis here.

Finally, a bizarre case from Valkenswaard, where 42-year-old Bram V. received 199 days in prison, 180 of which were conditional for public desecration and threats. The drunken V. freed himself for two hours in his neighbors’ garden and threatened to rape their eight-year-old son. Footage from a doorbell camera shows him shouting “I’m going to fuck the shit out of your son” and freeing himself from the front door and children’s bicycles. During his arrest, child pornography was also found on his laptop and iPhone. V. confessed everything and apologized, he will no longer have to go back to jail after 19 days of pretrial detention.
