The golf legend was arrested the week after a car accident. Now new information about the incident is leaking out.

Tiger Woods is considered one of the greatest golfers in history, but recently he has been the focus of attention away from the green. Last Friday, the 50-year-old was arrested following a car accident on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs. On Tuesday, the responsible police authority published a report providing more detailed information about the accident.

The athlete was in a “lethargic” state when he was arrested, as “The Athletic” reports, citing the report from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. Woods also had two hydrocodone tablets in his pocket. This is an opioid used to treat moderate to severe pain.

Woods was “sweating profusely” in his back seat during the interview, even though the cooling fan was running in the car. The golf star explained that he did not notice the vehicle in front of him braking because he was looking at his cell phone. According to the report, the 50-year-old had bloodshot and glassy eyes and also swayed to the right when walking.

Since the police officers recognized “several signs of impairment” in the conversation, the 50-year-old had to face a criminal investigation for drunk driving. This also included an alcohol test, which was negative. The police officers’ verdict was nevertheless clear: “Woods’ mental abilities were impaired and he was unable to drive a motor vehicle safely.”

Woods was therefore arrested, but released on bail a few hours later. A first court date in the matter is scheduled for April 23rd.
