Daniëlle van de Donk and Jackie Groenen will not play for the Dutch national team during the World Cup qualifiers against France next month. The midfielders from Valkenswaard and Riel are missing due to injuries.
Van de Donk also suffered from complaints last month and was therefore unable to play during the World Cup qualifier against Poland (2-2). A few days later, the Brabant woman was fit again for her return. During the second World Cup qualifier against Ireland (2-1), she played her 172nd international match.
Jackie Groenen played both matches, but, like Van de Donk, will be missing in Breda in two weeks.
It is not known what exactly the football players are suffering from. Van de Donk had previously been sidelined for seven months due to a knee injury.
Diptych against France
The Oranjeleeuwinnen first play at home in Breda on Tuesday, April 14. Four days later, Auxerre, France, will host the fourth match of the group stage in World Cup qualifying.
France leads the group with 6 points from the first two games. The Dutch team follows with 4 points, Poland with 1 and Ireland is still scoreless. Only the number 1 qualifies directly for the World Cup that will take place in Brazil in 2027. The other three countries in the group will play play-offs in the autumn.
