A nightmare became reality for a student in Den Bosch when her best friend’s boyfriend got into her bed and raped her. And so ended a pleasant evening in Den Bosch during which the birthday of the girlfriend of suspect Tarek S. (28) from Drunen was celebrated. A night out that could easily land him in prison for two years, as it turned out in the court in Den Bosch on Tuesday.
After that birthday on May 29, 2023, almost everything is different: the student is still deeply affected by the rape and has lost her best friend as a result. He has chosen to stay with Tarek and lives with him in Drunen.
It has become a ‘well-nothing case’, as the public prosecutor described it. And something bizarre happened anyway, because Tarek had sex with her best friend a few meters from his girlfriend, as one of the judges put it. That in itself is not punishable, but the point of discussion is whether it was forced sex, as the student says, or by mutual consent, as Tarek claims.
Stay the night in a student house
The birthday evening itself was quite pleasant, although strange things also happened. After some drinks in Drunen, Tarek and his girlfriend went out with a few other people in Den Bosch. Afterwards, the couple would spend the night in the student’s student house in Den Bosch.
Tarek already made a pushy impression on the women. One of the women already texted a friend that Tarek was sitting next to her in the car and kissing her. When the group entered the student house after going out, Tarek was loud and shouted that he was ‘super horny’, a resident of the student house heard.
Tarek and his girlfriend slept in the small living room on two couches pushed together. The student slept in her own bed, behind the sliding doors that divide the student room in two. When Tarek, according to his own account, had sex with his own girlfriend, she felt unwell. She ran to the bathroom to throw up.
Tarek went after her naked, but also found the student there. According to him, it gave him the idea that she wanted more from him, because she pushed her buttocks against his genitals. When Tarek’s girlfriend was asleep again, he went to the student. According to him, they first kissed and then had sex.
Ran to roommate
But the student completely disagrees with that. She woke up, she explained, when Tarek was already in bed with her and had already penetrated her. She also felt a hand on her chest and froze, she told police. When Tarek was done, she ran to a roommate and told her story there.

According to the public prosecutor, that so-called supporting evidence and her own story are enough to prove rape. Tarek apparently didn’t get what he wanted from his own girlfriend and then forced himself on her best friend, she concluded. She demanded two years in prison for the young man, who continued to deny it throughout the hearing.
His lawyer also saw no forced sex and suggested that the student may have felt remorse for having sex with her best friend’s boyfriend and therefore stated this.
It is now up to the court to judge whether or not the sex was forced. The verdict is on April 14.
