Germany’s curlers once again walked off the ice as winners at the World Championships in the USA.
After their success against South Korea (6:4), the team around skip Marc Muskatewitz was again in strong form on Monday and defeated Norway 7:6. The DCV selection is in third place with four wins from the first six group games and is still on the playoff course.
The next opponent is Switzerland on Tuesday night (2:00 a.m.). At the start in Ogden in the US state of Utah, Germany prevailed against the USA (10:5) and the Czech Republic (8:7), followed by surprising defeats against Poland (4:11) and Italy (5:7) – and now two wins again.
The Germans’ declared goal is the playoffs for participation in the semi-finals. The best two teams move straight into the semifinals, the teams in third to sixth place play in playoff duels for two more tickets.
The final takes place on April 4th. At the Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Germany missed the medal games with seventh place in the round robin.
