Lemgo's Samuel Zehnder throws a seven meter

As of: March 29, 2026 • 6:50 p.m

TBV Lemgo Lippe crowned a comeback against TVB Stuttgart with a late point win.

The Lipperlanders came to a 32:32 (14:16) draw at the end of the 26th matchday in Stuttgart on Sunday. Especially in the second half, TBV was behind for a long time and only scored an equalizer in the final minute.

With the first point win after two defeats in a row, Lemgo remains sixth in the table, one point behind THW Kiel in first place in the European Cup. Stuttgart is twelfth in the table.

The best goalscorers in the game were Stuttgart’s Lenny Rubin and Lemgo’s Samuel Zehnder with nine goals each.

Stuttgart without goalkeeper parade, but with breaks

The home team got off to a better start, putting their first three throw attempts into the Lemgo goal and taking a 3-1 lead (6th). The TBV had the right answer ready and only a little later equalized to 3:3 (8th). The accuracy of both teams meant that it took until the 14th minute for Lemgo’s Constantin Möstl to make the first two goalkeeper saves of the game. Shortly afterwards he also parried a seven-meter penalty from Kai Häfner.

Nils Versteijnen and Samuel Röthlisberger caused a shocking moment when they collided heads and fell to the ground (17th). After a short treatment break, both were able to return to the game. In terms of sport, it remained a head-to-head race in which no team was able to pull away. Every Lemgo opening goal was immediately followed by Stuttgart’s equalizer. And that despite the Stuttgart goalkeeper duo Mateusz Kornecki and Miljan Vujovic not making a single save in the first half.

The fact that Stuttgart was able to take the lead 13:11 five minutes before the break was mainly due to careless ball losses and five seven-meter penalties from the TBV. Even though the guests had to play the last minute and a half of the first half outnumbered, thanks to the fifth goal from Stuttgart’s strong Rubin, the hosts remained two goals ahead (16:14).

Stuttgart pulls away immediately after the break

After the break, Stuttgart got off to a better start again and extended their lead to 19:15 (33′) after Kornecki’s first save and a goal from Antonio Serradilla. At Lemgo, however, not much came together and after Hendrik Wagner lost the ball again, Rubin made it 21:16 for the Swabians (36th).

Stuttgart’s lead remained constant for some time, also because Stuttgart remained mercilessly efficient in their shooting. But the TBV didn’t give up and slowly fought its way back. When the score was 25:22 and after a Kempa trick goal from Lemgo was called back (46th), the home team took a time out.

Lemgo increased its intensity in this phase, especially in defense. At the front, Zehnder shortened the score to 27:25 (49th). Stuttgart initially successfully withstood the pressure from the guests. Kai Häfner was repeatedly allowed to go to the seven-meter line and converted, sometimes more and sometimes less confidently, but consistently.

Zehnder secures a point for Lemgo

Almost six minutes before the end, TBV coach Florian Kehrmann took his last time out to prepare his team for a possible comeback in the final phase. A minute and a half before the end, Zehnder was actually able to reduce the score to just one goal (32:31/59.).

After a Stuttgart time-out, TVB made a bad pass, giving Lemgo the chance to equalize. After a seven-meter penalty caused by Jakob Nigg, Zehnder had the opportunity to equalize with a seven-meter penalty and took advantage of it (32:32/60.). Stuttgart still had nine seconds to take the lead again, but Max Häfner’s goal from the halfway line only hit the TBV net after the final siren.
