Mega crash and race reduced to 10 laps: the Australian wins the battle with the Italian and Guevara. The Spaniard, fifth behind Alonso, takes command of the world championship thanks to Holgado’s flop (17th)
Accidents, fear, overtaking, comebacks: everything happens in Moto2 on the Circuit of the Americas. Senna Agius triumphs in Austin after a race initially interrupted by a crash involving seven riders. The Australian from the Intact GP team resists the pressure of a great Celestino Vietti. The Italian cherished the idea of a victory for a long time with his Boscoscuro Speed Up, but gave up at the end, still finishing ahead of Izan Guevara. The Intact GP team scores a double: in addition to Agius’s success, they can also celebrate the championship leadership that fell into the hands of Manuel Gonzalez, fifth at the finish line behind David Alonso. Tenth Tony Arbolino.

The GP of the Americas immediately reserves two surprises. First Holgado overwhelms Roberts after a few meters. Then there is a carambola triggered by Ferrandez. The fall also involves Garcia, Salac, Piqueras (fractured left femur for him), Munoz, Alonso and Veijer. The red flag is displayed and a new start is ordered with the same positions as the first start, given that three laps have not been completed. The race is shortened: only 10 laps to face compared to the initial 16.

Penalties inflicted on those who have committed misconduct are increasing. Among these there is also poleman Baltus, who sees his race destroyed. The Belgian takes the lead, but is overtaken on the third pass by Agius and, halfway through the race, suffers the long lap penalty. Meanwhile, the Australian does not definitively extend his lead and is followed by Vietti and Guevara. Despite struggling in the initial stretch, the Italian breaks through with three laps to go. Agius, however, does not give up and returns to command. Vietti resists, but is not in a position to mount a new attack. Alonso deserves applause: he started seventeenth due to the irregular pressure found in his tyres, which thwarted his pole position, the Colombian from the Aspar team climbed up to fourth place with a masterful performance. The exact opposite of teammate Holgado, who finished seventeenth.
