The case only serves as a starting point for a broader discussion. It is also emphasized that journalistic reporting is also permitted during ongoing investigations as long as basic standards are adhered to. This explicitly includes maintaining the presumption of innocence.
In parallel, the underlying conflict between Fernandes and Elmen remains complex. Among other things, she accuses him of engaging in digital deception using her identity and establishing contact with numerous men. Ulmen’s lawyer rejects the particularly serious accusation in connection with deepfake porn. There are also different accounts of other incidents.
Conflicting allegations and new investigations
The Itzehoe public prosecutor’s office recently reopened the investigation. They had previously been hired, among other things because of missing documents, as the authority announced. Fernandes contradicts this representation and criticizes the actions of the investigators.
