Kamil Stoch ended his extremely successful ski jumping career on Sunday. The three-time Olympic champion was relieved afterwards.
“I don’t know. I’m full of such different feelings that I’ll definitely remember and think about them for a long time. I think I feel a bit of everything, but above all happiness – joy that I made it to the end, that now everything is coming to an end. I’m just leaving something behind and can now freely start a new life,” Stoch is quoted as saying by the portal “skijumping.pl”.
The 38-year-old landed in 30th place in the final ski flying event in Planica, Slovenia. Stoch then left open what his life would look like after his active career in ski jumping.
Stoch remains a loyal fan of ski jumping
“There are so many things I still want to do in life. First of all, I want to rest. But there are also many things that I really want to do – things that give me an adrenaline rush. But I don’t know what that will be yet,” revealed the Polish winter sports superstar.
But Stoch will definitely remain connected to ski jumping as a fan and, according to his own statement, continues to keep his fingers crossed for his long-time teammates. “And I think I will continue to experience beautiful emotions when I see them, whether live or on television. That’s what I wish for myself and for you,” he said in a media round.

With three Olympic victories, two world championship titles, three victories in the Four Hills Tournament and two triumphs in the overall World Cup, Stoch is one of the greatest ski jumping legends of the recent past.
The 38-year-old had already announced the end of his ski jumping career last summer. Stoch finished the past season in 31st place in the overall World Cup.
