At first glance, this doesn’t seem like anything new – but that’s not the case. New, previously unseen scenes
Fans of the original novel will be particularly happy about the new series, as it will show scenes that were not yet seen in the films with Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Co. One of them concerns the character of Hermione Granger. For example, she was never shown receiving her invitation letter to Hogwarts. As “Wizarding World Direct” reports, she will receive a direct visit from a teacher who will inform her and her parents about her special abilities.
Hermione is given this special treatment because she is Muggle-born, meaning she comes from a non-magical family. The situation was similar with Harry Potter, who received a visit from Hagrid after several undelivered letters. In the films, such details from Hermione’s background were completely omitted. The fact that the series is now focusing on more details about main characters other than Harry Potter is something completely new.
More new details in the series
However, the spotlight on Hermione’s life away from the famous magic school will not be the only detail that appears for the first time in the series. This is intended to clarify where the dirt on Ron Weasley’s nose comes from in the first part of the series. On the Hogwarts Express, Hermione points this out to him – but it was never clarified where the pollution came from. The new edition is intended to remedy this.
In addition to the well-known trio, details about other characters are also highlighted. “Wizarding World” reports that it will provide a deeper insight into Albus Dumbledore’s past, an encounter between Nicolas and Perenell Flamel as well as new, previously unseen teaching moments from everyday life at Hogwarts. Fans will also be able to see the interior of the Gryffindor girls’ dormitory for the first time.
The series comes with many previously unseen elements, and fans can look forward to a particularly faithful version of “Harry Potter” that is close to the books.
When can the series be seen?
Fans will probably have to wait until the end of the year. Although filming is in full swing, the series is scheduled to start at Christmas 2026. It will be shown on the streaming provider Max. The release of season two will follow shortly after season one and will be produced immediately after filming the first season.
