Still no live negotiations, but the blaugrana’s interest is evident and now the neroazzurri are willing to evaluate proposals
As if it were one of the most practiced sports disciplines, the hunt for “likes” or “follows” on social media is the activity of those who, when it comes to the transfer market, want to find first of all traces or clues of negotiations, deals, interviews. In such a context, it is therefore not surprising that Pau Cubarsi found himself almost having to justify a social bond with Alessandro Bastoni a few days ago: «We follow each other on Instagram because we played against each other and because we are colleagues. He is magnificent, but let’s not talk about those who are not here.” There are those who immediately associated an image with these words: Cubarsi and Bastoni together, at Barcelona. And who knows what they will say if this snapshot imagined in March becomes reality in three or four months. To date, this is a future scenario that cannot be ruled out. Let’s be clear, the defender is certainly not the type to ask for a transfer and he won’t do so, just as Inter are not a club that puts the prized pieces of its squad up for sale. At the same time, however, the blue knows that football is also made up of possible farewells (and, in this specific case, how many players are there who would say no to Barcelona?); and then, like never before this year, the club realistically considers the possibility of depriving itself of him for the right sum and under the conditions it deems satisfactory to open a dialogue which, however, has not yet taken place on the Barcelona-Milan axis. No emails, no phone calls, there is no real negotiation, just this big Blaugrana eye that has insistently focused on Bastoni and has identified him as the ideal profile for Flick’s defence, where he would play (for real) in the center of the four-man line (what a change) with that Cubarsí for now his only partner in the net.
world championship and championship

Barcelona, beyond the economic issues linked to Financial Fair Play with La Liga controlling every expense of the club, is always there, pressing on Basto. Very high pressing. And the Spanish press, after having defined Bastoni as “the chosen one” a few days ago, has also already celebrated the marriage between the parties, certain that the Catalans already have the defender’s “yes” in their pocket. You can run fast on the Ramblas. A lot. Also because to satisfy Inter they would need 80 million, or around 70 but boosted by bonuses. However, at this moment, in view of next summer, Bastoni has only one thought and that is the World Cup. He is in Coverciano, training with the Azzurri with whom he must win in Zenica on Tuesday and the transfer market – two days before the historic match against Bosnia – is practically the last thing on his mind. Not only that, once the World Cup objective has been achieved, hopefully from the middle of next week the priority will once again become Inter and another goal, this time Italian. In short, any official dialogue will eventually open with a ticket to the USA in hand and the tricolor on the chest. A reasoning in line with that of Inter on any potential market situation that will heat up next summer: first the title and then we sit at the negotiating tables.
the defense of the future

With Bastoni’s farewell, the defense risks being the department most affected by the summer revolution. From the goal (with Vicario as the chosen one for the post-Sommer) to the front line that will say goodbye to Acerbi and De Vrij, both out of contract. Among the names that are liked to strengthen the department there is also that of Mario Gila from Lazio. The Spaniard is also on the notebook of Igli Tare, the current sporting director of Milan who brought him to the Biancoceleste in 2022. It’s early to talk about a real transfer derby but Inter are also thinking about it, of course: his contract expires in 2027 but even with a year to go it won’t be easy to negotiate with president Lotito. Ordonez of Bruges (valued at 20-25 million), Solet of Udinese and the former Next Gen Muharemovic, now a certainty of Grosso’s Sassuolo, also remain in the Nerazzurri’s thoughts.
