John McCook, the legendary Eric Forrester, the steel guard of the beautiful and the brave, speaks straight words. NOTE! The story contains plot revelations.
John McCook is now speaking directly about his character Eric Forrester. PDO
The steel shield of the beautiful and brave John McCookthe legendary Eric Forrester, needs no introduction. Almost 40 years in the same role, but the man just doesn’t get tired of the soap series’ imaginative twists.
Currently, there is a plot pattern going on in Kaunarei in the USA, where the Forresters are fighting bloodily with the members of the Spencer family for the domination of the fashion world. McCook couldn’t be more pleased that the Nestor of the Forrester family, i.e. his own character Eric, is deep in the center of the drama.
At the end of 2025, the program saw a plot pattern in which own son Ridge Forrester dared to organize a retirement party for his father, although Eric had no intention of letting go of the Forresters’ grip on power. That made quite a deal.
McCook is delighted to be able to play a character who, even in his eighties, speaks of a fiery rebellion in working life. The plot pattern related to age discrimination came from the program’s producer and screenwriter From Bradley Bell.
– I was immediately involved in it, swears John McCook.
– It’s a good emotional story and very topical. We have a lot of fans who are in their forties, and some in their fifties, sixties and seventies. I believe that this is really something they can relate to! I’m happy about that!
This is what John McCook looks like now. PDO
Juicy drama
Acting out the family feud of the Forresters has been wonderful for John McCook.
Eric, heartened by his retirement party, took his skills in the soap series to the Spencer family business, which eventually competed. The old-fashioned game move hit Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and from Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) flour in the mouth. Now everyone in the show is just talking about who will finally get to wear Eric Forrester’s fashion creations.
John McCook does not want his character to be an old man who has lived through battles, but he gathers his strength to play a strong gray panther who knows his worth in every episode.
He says that there aren’t hundreds of new role proposals for the over eighty-year-old actor in the entertainment industry, but he still has to find the guts.
– I know I’m an older guy, but I don’t want to see episodes without Eric. He supports all the other characters. The character is awesome. He is not as aggressive as many other old men in Kaunarei. Others are gangsters and tough businessmen.
He plans to stay on the screen as long as he has the strength.
– I will soon be an 82-year-old actor and I am still working.
John McCook says he has the same wish for the character he plays as he does for himself.
– I just want him to stay healthy and I stay healthy. That’s all I want, for God’s sake! He rambles.
