(toskanews) – Tourists and Romans will now be able to experience the Ara Pacis Museumwith a new immersive experience that tells its story and reveals the symbolic monument ofAugustan age as it once was. The Ara reveals itself it is multimedia and sensorial show lasting approximately 45 minutes which will be available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8pm to 11pm in groups of up to 25 people (including people with motor disabilities).

The Ara reveals itself: augmented reality and ancient colors

The Capitoline Superintendent of Cultural Heritage Claudio Parisi Presicce: «We wanted, through this multimedia show with the augmented realitytell what is not visible, tell the complexity of the monument and above all tell the colors of the monument itself which were present in most of the marble monuments of the city of Rome. The colors were traced through a long work of recovery of traces and reconstruction by comparison with other monuments that preserve an idea of the ancient colours”.

Videomapping and voices of history: an immersive experience

The voices of those who contributed to keeping the Ara Pacis alive, collectors, restorers, archaeologists, can be heard on headphones in Italian and English, while the marble reliefs come to life, animated by sounds and visual effects. A narrative in progression, thanks to the technique of videomapping.

«Not only do we tell the story of the monument as the ancients saw it, but also its recent history, where it was located along Via del Corso, when it was discovered, when it was identified and the protagonists themselves will speak through their voices. So acomplex emotional and cultural experience and complete with the story of this very important monument of the city of Rome”. The project is promoted by Roma Capitale, Department of Culture and Coordination of initiatives related to Remembrance Day, Capitoline Superintendence of Cultural Heritage, organized and managed by Zètema Progetto Cultura and created by AV Set Produzioni SpA with Luca Scarzella.
