Those who watched the World Figure Skating Championships might have been startled on Thursday. The Germans who competed in the pair skating free program Annika Hocke and Robert Kunkel decided to include a forbidden trick in their program.
The name of the trick is headbanger. Kunkel grabbed Hocke’s ankle and spun him around several times so that Hocke’s upper body hit the ice.
Headbanger is prohibited in the rules precisely because of its danger.

– This is one of the chief judge’s horrors. If this goes wrong, it goes badly. Fortunately, it doesn’t work at this level, said Saarelainen, who also worked as a judge for a long time.

Hocke and Kunkel finished seventh in the race and were not banned headbanger even brought them point deductions.
