PSV has major renovation plans, the capacity of the number of supporters that can fit in the stadium must be almost doubled. It now accommodates around 35,000 people and this should increase to 55,000 to 60,000 after the renovation. The Philipsdorp, the neighborhood next to the stadium, will benefit greatly from the renovation. However, there are mainly positive reactions to the plans from the neighborhood.
In the neighborhood you cannot avoid living next to the Philips stadium during matches. “It is very atmospheric, there are many people on the street and all the parking spaces are full, but those evenings are part of life if you live in the area,” says a local resident who has just walked her dog. The area is already full during matches and the intention is to attract more supporters. “You have to take into account that there are few parking spaces during the competitions, but you know that if you live here,” says local resident Marion. “It may be busy, but a few hours later that is resolved,” says a man.

But not everyone is enthusiastic about living next to the stadium. “There are meetings for residents, but nothing was said about the parking problem, even though it is not something new,” says Jolanda, who also lives in Philipsdorp. “It’s as if we don’t exist, we just have to put up with it. I would have preferred if they would take us more into account,” she says.
The renovation will cost 350 to 450 million euros. “Whether they build a road on the other side of Eindhoven or expand the stadium nicely, that’s part of it,” says the woman with the dog. “Ridiculous, you should have put it somewhere else or put your stadium somewhere where you are not in the middle of a residential area,” says Jolanda.
‘Fantastic’
“Having PSV as neighbors is fantastic,” says the man who is a big fan. “It has several sides, it does cause nuisance during concerts,” says Philipsdorp resident Marion.
PSV hopes to start the renovation in 2027, the aim is to have it completed by 2030.
