After Kees became European champion last year, he was allowed this year travel to the United States for the world championship. “It is held once every four years with more than three thousand participants from all over the world.”
After his bronze medal, he is now celebrating in the party capital of the world. “I have a very big cup and a lot of attention. It is really the crowning glory of my work, but there are no dollars attached to it.” Still, that doesn’t hurt the ice maker.
“If you are in the top three, that is a reason to celebrate in Las Vegas,” says the euphoric ice cream maker.
‘Beach feeling in a bubble’
Kees participated with his ‘seaside delight’ flavor and it was well received by the jury. As the name suggests, the taste is based on the coast. “It is a mascarpone ice cream with a sauce of sea buckthorn, salted almond and pieces of merengue with samphire.”
