The Official Response Office of the Argentine Republic, the account that emerged from Casa Rosada, released a statement in response to the various government scandals for $Pound and the case carried out by the Chief of Staff, Manuel Adorni, with their flights and undeclared assets.

“During the last week, blatant lies, smear campaigns and media operations about alleged conflicts, resignations and non-existent changes in the Government have multiplied. These are just some of the operettas of recent days. This type of operations is not new: they are part of a coordinated and malicious pattern of disinformation, with the same mechanism and the same destabilizing objectives as always,” stated the Office, created in February 2026 and commanded by Juan Pablo Carreira.

“But this last week they were worse than ever, inventing the most delusional things that have ever been said about government officials. The President Javier Milei and his Cabinet respond with concrete results and irrefutable facts. We will continue to fulfill the mandate for which good Argentines voted for us: organize the economy, shrink the State, ensure public order and advance with the profound reforms that the country needs,” concluded the government user of the former Twitter.

In his personal account, the same Milei reposted the post and added: “Fight the status quo. The end.” Immediately, through the same communication channel, the journalist Jorge Rial He shared the message from the libertarian president and, addressing the president, messaged: “Today I was waiting for you at the mediation of the trial that you presented. But you were conspicuous by your absence. A shame. I had things to say to you. But you avoid face-to-face, only with the regime’s journalists. The end”.

The conflict between the Head of State and the journalist escalated from the media to the judicial field, to the point of leading to an instance of mandatory mediation prior to a possible lawsuit. The origin of the dispute dates back to a series of public criticisms that Rial began to issue with greater intensity starting in 2025, in the context of the open confrontation between the libertarian government and broad sectors of journalism. In this context, the president had expressed that “99% of journalism” was made up of “operators, liars and connoisseurs”, a definition that functioned as a backdrop for the collision with the driver.

The conflict with Milei became personal through cross statements on social networks and the media, where Rial redoubled his criticism and warned that he was going to “fight” the Government. From the Casa Rosada, the president and his entourage interpreted these statements as grievances and possible insults, which motivated the activation of legal proceedings. Mediation thus emerges as a mandatory preliminary step in the framework of a dispute that combines political questions, public accusations and the confrontational style that characterizes both the president and the journalist.

In ideological terms, the confrontation also reflects two antagonistic positions: on the one hand, the libertarian leader proclaiming the so-called “cultural battle” against what he defines as “the caste” and traditional journalism, against a Rial who, from his decades-old media role, positions himself as a critic of the adjustment, of the official policies of the LLA government and of what he considers contradictory practices within the government itself.

Rial’s case is not isolated and there is precedent. Throughout his political career, Milei has been involved in multiple confrontations with journalists that sometimes led to legal conflicts or conciliation proceedings. Several years ago, the then Buenos Aires deputy had crosses with figures such as Facundo Pastorwhom he even warned “get ready to run.”

In this current context, the mediation with the television host appears as another chapter in a conflictive relationship between the President and part of Argentine journalism.
