Music producer Lee “Scratch” Perry died five years ago. Now it’s clear: there was still unreleased music by the artist that will be released soon. For the album he worked with another artist in a Berlin studio.
Collaboration with Mouse on Mars
The album, scheduled for a posthumous release in June 2026, is titled “Spatial, No Problem.” It includes a total of eight tracks. Lee “Scratch” Perry realized it in collaboration with Mouse on Mars. The production took place in December 2019 in their Berlin studio. The album title comes from a conversation the duo had with Perry about spatial audio.
Regarding the work itself, Mouse on Mars made the following statement: “We hardly talked about what we were doing. We met and got started. He laughed a lot and we laughed with him. We also made fish soup and ate papayas.”
The producer’s final album will be presented as part of the Project a Black Planet exhibition at London’s Barbican from June 5th to 13th.
The first song “Rockcurry” can already be heard. Fans can soon look forward to the artist’s latest new music.
