A dramatic scene occurs before the World Cup in Planica. The focus: a Slovenian ski jumper.

The Slovenian local hero Nik Heberle fell badly before the official start of the Ski Flying World Cup in Planica. According to a video circulating on Platform X, the 21-year-old lost control after his jump on Wednesday, hit the jump and slid down the slope. He then remained motionless.

The ski jumper was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. The Slovenian Ski Association later announced that Heberle had not suffered any serious injuries but was under observation. “A CT scan of the head and spine was also carried out, he has no serious injuries. He will remain in the hospital for observation until tomorrow,” it said.

The test runs were initially interrupted for minutes, then ended prematurely after almost an hour due to difficult conditions. On Thursday, Heberle spoke up in his Instagram story.

He shared a picture of himself in a wheelchair accompanied by four other people. He wrote: “Home, goodbye, thanks everyone.”

The World Cup final in Planica starts on Thursday with training and qualification for the men. The individual competitions follow on Friday and Sunday, and the team flying takes place on Saturday.
