Many people in Drenthe were scratching their car windows this morning or got a snow shower on their roof. “March is changing its state, that is clear,” says RTV Drenthe weatherman Gert Voerman.
And today we have to continue to take winter pinpricks into account. “We get a variety of bright clear skies, cumulus clouds and winter showers. Then you have rain, hail, wet snow and maybe a thunderstorm,” Voerman explains.
Gusts of wind may also occur during the showers. According to the weatherman it will be about 7 degrees today.
Undoubtedly, not everyone is looking forward to those winter showers. “But we will have beautiful cloudy skies,” says the weatherman enthusiastically. According to Voerman we are in unstable air.
“At a height of five kilometers above Drenthe, it was -37 degrees this morning, stone cold. It is always freezing there, but on Tuesday afternoon it was -19, so there really was a cold set in,” said Voerman.
If there is a snow shower, the snow will not remain, because the ground temperature is well above 0, according to the weatherman.
We also have to take into account a somewhat wintry start tomorrow morning. Not so much with snow, but with cold. Voerman: “Next night the wind will drop, it will be dry and with prolonged clear spells it will freeze: -1 or -2. Frost-sensitive places such as bridges and viaducts may then become slippery.”
Don’t put away your car’s window scraper yet, because it may be needed tomorrow. According to the weatherman we will have a nice Friday with sun, no showers and about 10 degrees.
After that it becomes changeable again. “Spring is not really here yet. At the beginning of next week we will have a supply of fairly fresh air. It will remain somewhat on the cold side until the beginning of April,” Voerman concludes.
