Suat Çakır, press spokesman of Samsunspor, one of the Trendyol Super League teams, said that they want to win all the remaining 8 matches.
At the press conference he held at Nuri Asan Facilities, Çakır stated that they achieved a significant success by reaching the top 16 in the UEFA Conference League this year.
Explaining that they have closed the book on the UEFA Conference League, Çakır said, “After closing the book on Europe as our target, we now focus on the Turkish Super League and the Turkish Cup. We see the Turkish Cup as a very short target to go to Europe. Because there are only 3 matches left. We want to go to Europe very much. We experienced this this year and Samsunspor made a splash in Europe and Türkiye. Hopefully, we want to take it further. We will fight harder for this.” he said.
“WE ASK FOR 24 POINTS IN 8 MATCHES”
Noting that there are 8 matches left before them, Çakır continued as follows:
“We are aiming for 24 points in the remaining 8 matches. Because our goal in the league is to be among the top five teams. We will fight for that. We have the power to do this. Because we see this light with our new coach and after our injured players recover. We are talking about this with our teachers, our football director and our president. ‘Why not?’ we say. That’s why we see the Konyaspor match this week as very important. If we pass the Konyaspor and Rizespor matches without any losses, we will continue on this target. In the meantime, we definitely need fans as we pursue these goals.”
Reminding that their rivals in the Turkish Cup are Trabzonspor, Çakır said, “Our rivals in the Turkish Cup are also Trabzonspor. If we pass Trabzonspor, we will match the winner of the Galatasaray-Gençlerbirliği match. I hope we will continue on our way towards both our top 5 goals in the Super League and our goals in the cup. Afonso Sousa, who was injured, has also recovered. I think Sousa will also start playing in the upcoming matches. Ntcham’s little boy “He has an injury. We are trying to get him ready for the Konyaspor match. A fracture was detected in Satka’s third metatarsal bone and Jaures Assoumou’s injury continues.” he said.
Çakır added that German coach Thomas Reis’s statements about Samsunspor did not reflect the truth and that he found the statement very unfortunate.
