At the end of 2024, Paul McCartney announced that he was working on completing a new album, most of which he recorded with producer Andrew Watt. In the preface to the oral history of his Post-BeatleDuring the years of “Wings – The Story of a Band on the Run,” he revealed that he had written a total of 25 new songs for it, and at a screening of the Amazon documentary “Man On The Run,” long-time McCartney manager Scott Rodger revealed in mid-February that the album was finished, although McCartney was still working on the artwork.

Now his brother Michael “Mike” McCartney posted a picture on X of a poster that his son Joshua made in Liverpool. It shows a British street sign that says “The Boys of Dungeon Lane.” “Josh saw this teaser for r kids new album, ‘The Boys of Dungeon Lane’, in Liverpool yestas,” he writes. “It was familiar to him as he had designed the Dungeon Lane (Speke) artwork for his Uncle.”

After Mike himself was responsible for the cover design of the McCartney album “Chaos And Creation In The Backyard” (it shows a photo he took of his brother in the garden of his parents’ house on Forthlin Road in Liverpool in 1962), his son is now following in his footsteps.

A new old song

Dungeon Lane is located in the Speke district of Liverpool, right next to John Lennon Airport and about a kilometer from Ardwick Road, where the McCartneys lived in the early 1950s before moving to Forthlin Road. In his song “In Liverpool”, of which only one

from 1991 and that he played in the stadium at Anfield Road in 2008

played, he sang: “Walking with the boys of Dungeon Lane / Aimlessly towards the cast iron shore / Swapping tales about the Chinese farm / And getting caught.”

Could be a hint that this wonderful song, which sounds like a prequel to his song “Early Days”, appears on the new album. More details on “The Boys of Dungeon Lane” are expected in the next few days. On Friday and Saturday (March 27 and 28), McCartney plays two intimate concerts at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles.
