After Collien Fernandes’ allegations, “Jerks” is no longer available to stream. Seasons of the series are now appearing on DVD at exorbitant prices on Ebay.

After Collien Fernandes made serious allegations against her ex-husband Christian Ulmen in “Spiegel”, the actor came under pressure not only legally, but above all symbolically. Advertising partners react and ProSieben and the streamer Joyn take their series “Jerks” out of circulation.

As always, when there is a lot of attention and action is taken quickly, some people see their chance to profit from it. While the anarcho series “Jerks,” which Ulmen co-produced, has disappeared from media libraries, masses of copies of various seasons are suddenly appearing on DVD on Ebay and other sales platforms.

They were placed there between March 20th and 23rd – exactly at the moment when the allegations began to circulate publicly. There are individual seasons, complete boxes, auctions and immediate purchases. And all at ridiculously expensive prices. At Mediamarkt a season costs around 20 euros, on Ebay you can quickly shell out 100 euros or more. A complete box would cost more than 200 euros.

“Jerks” no longer available on Amazon

Amazon also reports that “Jerks” is currently not available. It’s the usual game of supply and demand – and the well-known calculation of a caste of greedy idiots who want to take advantage of it.

Of course, it is also possible that some disappointed fans want to get rid of their memories of the series sooner rather than later after all the allegations against Ulmen. But that should be the case about as often as an eBayer who wants to get rid of his overpriced ten tickets for Harry Styles because apparently the family can’t go to the stadium that day.

There is a certain irony in the fact that “Jerks”, this foreign shame comedy based on border crossings, is now becoming the subject of a moral border negotiation. For a long time, the series thrived on the calculated inappropriateness of its characters, on the desire to break taboos, also because one didn’t know exactly what was still role and what was authentic.

Whether and if so when “Jerks” will be shown on stream again remains to be seen. There has been no response from the series’ DVD label, Leonine.
