Coach Menetti’s team regulates the Aek with Sokolowski’s triples and qualifies for the play-ins: they will face the Greeks of Lavrio
TREVISO-AEK 81-69
After three defeats in a row between cup and championship, Treviso ends the regular season of the Champions League with a smile, overcoming Aek Athens at Palaverde and qualifying for the next phase: an important but sweaty success, given the absences of Akele (injury) and Dimsa (intestinal flu), and the suboptimal form of Imbrò and Sims. From Szombathely, however, no good news arrives: Riga fails to break the field of leaders Falco, so the Venetians finish second in the group and do not get direct access to the Top16: they will have to face the Greeks of the Lavrio in the play-ins. The evening did not start very well for Treviso (0-5 for AEK), but the team of coach Menetti recovered immediately thanks to the defense and the dominance with offensive rebound, with which he managed to play many more possessions than his opponents. The first quarter ends 19-12, in the second the triples begin to enter and the gap widens rapidly: Treviso also touches +19, before going to the long break ahead 45-29. In the third quarter, however, the hosts risk ruining everything, getting crushed by the plays of Colom and Griffin and allowing the AEK to go up to -6 (59-53 at 30 ‘). In the last set, two triples by Sokolowski bring the advantage in double figures (73-61), with 5 ‘to play. The baskets from afar by Chillo and Bortolani close all matters.
Treviso: Russell 17, Sokolowski and Bortolani 14, Chillo 13, Jones 10
AEK: Griffin 23, Hummer 16, Angola 15

Holon: Ragland 19, Menco 19, Johnson 16
Toasts: N. Perkins 16, Udom 15, Chappell 13
