The trailer for this was initially posted online in isolated snippets before the complete clip, around two and a half minutes long, was shown on the morning of yesterday, Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
The trailer hit. Millions of people around the world wanted to get a first taste of Spider-Man’s next mission in a very short time. In just twelve hours, the trailer was watched 500 million times – an all-time record. Never before has a trailer been able to break this mark so quickly within the first 24 hours of release.
This is shown by the figures from the Global Box Office website. “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” easily beat the previous record holder thanks to the twelve hours it took. This was the trailer for the video game “Grand Theft Auto VI”. This also quickly reached 500 million views after its release, but took twice as long as the trailer for the superhero film.
Sony’s cash registers should be ringing
In the next few days, the studio Sony Pictures is expected to present the figures for the trailer. However, it is already clear that the film is highly anticipated by fans. If the current trailer numbers are ultimately reflected in the tickets purchased, this will likely be one of the biggest blockbusters of the upcoming cinema year.
It was similar with its predecessor: With 1.9 billion US dollars grossed, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is currently in eighth place among the most commercially successful films of all time. Where and whether the new offshoot of the series will be on this list will become clear from July 30, 2026 – then the film will start in German cinemas.
