BTS celebrate the release of their highly anticipated comeback album “Arirang” with a grand appearance on late night television. The band will perform two songs and sit down for an interview on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” – a few days after the album release.
BTS’ first “Tonight Show” appearances in nearly five years will air on March 25 and 26. The first episode contains the interview and a song, the second performance follows the following evening. The show repeats the double performance format from 2021, when BTS performed both “Permission to Dance” and “Butter”.
To illustrate how much time has passed since BTS’s last full performance as a band, their last late night appearance to date was on James Corden’s “The Late Late Show,” which aired its finale in 2023.
Comeback at full throttle
“Arirang” will be released on March 20th. Instead of filling the time before the release with classic promotional machinery, BTS only really flex their muscles after the drop. A day after the release, BTS will perform a free concert at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, South Korea, which will be streamed worldwide via Netflix. On March 23, RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook will perform at Spotify x BTS: SWIMSIDE in New York City – their first U.S. performance in nearly four years. The Tonight Show date will follow later in the week, and a documentary about the making of the album will premiere on Netflix on March 27.
The album is the band’s first joint studio effort since all members completed their military service in South Korea. BTS will reunite with fans around the globe on their 82-show world tour, which begins April 9. It is the largest world tour ever undertaken by a single artist from South Korea. “The most important thing,” RM told GQ in the group’s first joint interview since announcing their 2022 hiatus, “is just that we’re here together again.”
