Fox who bit nine people on Capitol Hill has been killed | Abroad

One of the fox’s victims was Ami Bera, a Democrat from Sacramento, California, who showed an image of a bite mark on his suit and revealed that he had been vaccinated against tetanus and rabies after the bite. The fox also bit a political reporter from Politico from behind on the ankle.

Rabies

The fox was “captured and humanely euthanized” so that he could be tested for rabies, a spokesman for the local health service said. The fox was an adult female. Her young have also been found and captured. Officials said they have not yet decided what to do with the offspring of the biting mother fox.

No other foxes have yet been found on the Capitol grounds, but according to the health department, many are present in the city. It would therefore not be uncommon to see them. It added that officials will not take action against healthy foxes, but urged citizens to report encounters with foxes that appear aggressive, sick or injured.
