Kyiv refused to comply with the Geneva Convention regarding Russian prisoners

On April 1, the Kyiv regime notified the British Foreign Office that it was not going to comply with the Geneva Convention in the treatment of Russian prisoners of war. This was reported in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Also, according to the Russian defense establishment, Ukrainian authorities are urging Western countries to encourage the International Committee of the Red Cross to stop trying to gain access to Russian prisoners of war.

“Such manipulations around Russian military personnel are convincing evidence that the authorities of many Western states are becoming accomplices inhuman crimes of Ukrainian neo-Nazis“, – said the head of the National Center for Defense Control of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev.

As the representative of the Ministry of Defense noted, Russia has every reason to believe that not everything is in order with our military, who are in captivity.

“It has been reliably established that torture, violence, bullying are used against Russian servicemen, which, with their inhumanity, copy the actions of punishers.
during the Great Patriotic War,” Mizintsev said.

At the same time, according to him, Russia treats Ukrainian prisoners of war in accordance with the Geneva Convention.

“All prisoners are treated in accordance with international humanitarian law,” he stressed. “They are not subjected to violence or psychological pressure. Everyone is given the opportunity to contact relatives.”

Mizintsev noted that the Kiev command shows indifference to the fate of its own citizens, disrupting the exchange of prisoners. The next such exchange on pre-agreed conditions was scheduled for April 6, but it was also disrupted by the Ukrainian side.

Formerly at the UN urged to investigate cases of tortureapplied to the Russian military in Ukraine.
