The Veronese, the last Italian on the Strade Bianche podium, has resumed training after the accident in December: goal O Gran Camino
Davide Formolo is still the last Italian to have stood on the Strade Bianche podium (2nd in 2020, Wout Van Aert won in the August edition due to Covid) but tomorrow he will not be at the start in Siena, as expected: the 33-year-old from Verona of Movistar is recovering after the accident in December, when a cup of hot tea fell on his foot. A banal domestic accident which however led to him having to undergo surgery to reconstruct the tendon of his big toe. Now things are better, as he himself explains to Gazzetta.it: “I started cycling again about three weeks ago. If everything goes well, I will do a training course at altitude from 23 March to 10 April, and then make my debut at O Gran Camino. The short Galician stage race is scheduled for 14 to 18 April.
