Almost all windows at the entrances to the auditorium of the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) have been destroyed. That happened on the night of Wednesday to Thursday. The destruction at the hall, which is intended for lectures and performances, has been claimed by a pro-Palestinian action group. The 23 broken windows and broken glass doors were covered with wooden plates on Thursday. Windows have also been daubed with red paint.
According to police, five of the six entrances on the ground floor and two entrances on the first floor were destroyed. The action took place on the second day of the Career Expothe annual fair of the TU/e where students come into contact with companies for internships, jobs and graduation projects.
It is an action by Palestine Action NL. In an Instagram post they explain that TU/e is involved in research and projects for the Israeli army. In their post they admit their destruction: “Last night, autonomous activists decorated all entrances to the auditorium building of the TU/e. The action follows the successful occupation of the roof. The University is part of several research and development projects that involve the Israeli military…”
Not the first action
On Tuesday morning, about fifteen demonstrators also climbed onto the roof of a TU/e building. They hung banners, waved flags and lit torches. One of the banners read: ‘No profit from genocide’. The activists shouted, among other things: ‘Free Palestine’ and want the university to cut ties with Israel.
