MT Melsungen suffers the next setback in the European League and is shaking for first place in the table. There is good news from Erik Balenciaga.
MT Melsungen suffered its second defeat in a row in the European League on Tuesday evening. The North Hesse, who had lost the previous week with a skeleton force in Skopjelost to IFK Kristianstad in a foreign hall with 30:31 (16:16). The MT is still in first place in the table for the time being, but they could still be pushed out of this position and thus lose the direct ticket for the next round.
After all: the North Hessians still have it in their own hands. A win next week against HC Vardar from Skopje would mean a place in the top eight.
Balenciaga celebrates its seasonal debut
The game in the south of Sweden was balanced and exciting throughout the entire season. The home team was only a little more ripped off in crunch time and ultimately had the happier ending for themselves.
From the MT’s point of view, there was also good news: Spanish playmaker Erik Balenciaga was out for the first time this season after recovering from a pubic bone injury and even scored a goal. The best thrower in Kristianstad was Florian Drosten with six hits.
Next week Melsungen will face HC Vardar on the last matchday of the main round in Kassel. On Sunday (4:30 p.m.) there is also Hessenderby against HSG Wetzlar in the Bundesliga.
