FC Bayern is currently preparing for the Bundesliga game against Gladbach. An old friend stopped by during training.
Celebrity visit to Säbener Straße: On Tuesday, ex-Bayern striker Ivica Olić stopped by the Munich team’s training session.
The German record champions published a picture of the Croatian on X. In this one, Olić is standing in front of the training ground, smiling in a blue sweater and a leather jacket. Behind him, the stars around DFB captain Josua Kimmich are in the middle of their unit. Next Friday, coach Vincent Kompany’s team will face Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga (from 8:30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online).
Olić played for FC Bayern between 2009 and 2012. In 80 competitive games for the club he scored 23 goals and added 13 more. In 2010 he won the German championship and the DFB Cup with Bayern. He reached the final of the Champions League twice with the team. In 2010, however, the final was lost 2-0 to Inter Milan, and in 2012 there was a 3-4 defeat on penalties against Chelsea.
In addition to Bayern, Olić played for a few other clubs in Germany. He was initially under contract with Hertha BSC. He later drew attention to himself with strong performances at Hamburger SV. After two years with the “Rothosen”, FC Bayern steered him to Munich. He then went hunting for goals for VfL Wolfsburg. This was followed by another engagement in Hamburg and a year at 1860 Munich before Olić ended his career in 2017.
The 46-year-old is still connected to FC Bayern. Olić is part of the “FC Bayern Legends”, a traditional team of the club consisting of former stars such as Claudio Pizarro, Giovane Élber and Stefan Effenberg. The team plays games against legendary teams from other top clubs several times a year.
