In group B the Tuscans maintain the advantage over their pursuers. Campobasso also wins in the challenge for fourth place with Ternana. In group C the Campania team beat Potenza and escaped after the 0-0 draw against the Etna team in Salerno

March 1st – 9.30pm – MILAN

It was the Sunday of the big matches in groups B and C, with the leaders Arezzo and Benevento ending the day with a smile. Here’s what happened, remembering that we’ll be back to playing immediately given that the last midweek round of the season is scheduled for Tuesday to Thursday.

group b

It’s a draw that feels like a victory for Arezzo, the one in the direct clash with Ravenna. Having played one game less, the top of the class remains at +7 on the second place now occupied by a couple, given that Ascoli also has the same points as Ravenna. In front of the Comunale’s 7,000, Mandorlini’s team broke the deadlock with Fischnaller’s penalty (Chierico’s stomp on Spini, Venturi conceded after 744 minutes) and dreamed of the shot that would reopen the race for the record; However, Bucchi takes over with the substitutions, introducing Cianci midway through the second half (he scored the header to make it 1-1) and the latest arrival Viviani, who hits the post in the 95th minute (Mandorlini protests in the press room for the lack of a second yellow card for Iaccarino before the break). In a significant challenge for fourth place, Campobasso scores a blow against Terni: Zauri – who was 2-1 down and turns it around, with the former Bifulco also scoring – displeases his former Lazio teammate Liverani, fresh from three victories in a row but now 3 minus (despite having a game less) against the Molise players. Winning on the Guidonia pitch thanks to a great right-footed shot from Ghirardello, Gubbio remains in the playoff zone from which the Lazio freshman loses contact. Vis Pesaro fails again with an internal success: Pierino Braglia’s Pontedera passes with Yeboah (shot deflected by Primasso), then Machin equalizes with a header on an assist from substitute Giovannini. A goal each also between Bra and Pianese: the guests escape with Fabrizi (fourth goal of his 2026), substitute Scapin joins them after time expires.

group c

It’s a Sunday that smiles at Benevento, which extends its lead thanks to the success of Potenza and Catania’s simultaneous draw in Salerno. Floro Flores is now 7 points ahead of second place, awaiting the direct clash on Thursday (Benevento-Catania) which could be worth the match point for Serie B. The league leaders meanwhile move on to Potenza – an unbeaten field up until now – thanks to Mignani’s performance and “enjoy” the 0-0 draw against Arechi, where an excited Serse Cosmi made his debut on the Salernitana bench and stopped a Catania team that was willing but unable to materialise. Cosenza closes in on third place, reaching Sorrento twice and then managing to overtake them in a match in which everything happens: three penalties (of which the first two were awarded after Fvs review and the last, decisive, much contested one) and braces from D’Ursi for the Campania team and from Emmausso for Buscè’s team. A goal in each half in the 1-1 draw of the playoff match between Monopoli and Crotone: Fall, inserted by Colombo at half-time, responds to Piovanello’s beautiful overhead kick. The same result also matures between Giugliano and Latina, both in the playout zone: ahead with De Rosa, the Campanians miss the penalty for the possible doubling with Prado and are reached – again from 11 meters – by the usual Paris (9 goals in the last 12 games). The result in Syracuse is striking, where Turati’s team (last, after the 6-point penalty) shows off its pride and overwhelms Casertana with an all-out poker inspired by Limonelli’s brace: “Ours was a poor impression against a team full of enthusiasm, we apologize to everyone”, the immediate comment from Alessandro Degli Esposti, sporting director of Casertana.
