Ilves’ star forward Lukaš Jašek has received a three-match ban from the League’s disciplinary delegation.

In the KooKoo–Ilves match played on Saturday, Jašek hit KooKoo’s Miska Siiko with a cross stick in the neck area. The act took place in connection with the starting situation.

The league’s situation room reviewed the case and took it to the disciplinary delegation for consideration.

– After watching the video recording, the disciplinary delegation states that Jašek and Siikonen, who are the starters in the B start, fall on the ice. Siikonen wins the start and Jašek is on top of Siikonen. The puck ends up going to KooKoo’s player from the start. After this, Jašek strikes with a cross stick, hitting Siiko in the neck with his stick. The disciplinary delegation states that Jašek’s act fulfills the hallmarks of the cross stick rule, the report explainscontinuing:

– With regard to the penalty assessment, the disciplinary delegation states that in the situation an exceptional cross-stick hit on the opponent occurs. The blow of the transverse club is aimed directly at the neck. The players have been at the kick-off, but the act is no longer related to the kick-off or chasing the puck.

– The disciplinary delegation considers that Jašek has recklessly endangered the opponent with his actions and a suspension for the cross stick should be imposed. Regarding the length of the ban, the delegation has considered the points stated above in the penalty consideration. In addition, the delegation has taken into account the punishments given for cross sticks in the current and previous seasons when determining the duration of the suspension.

– Ilves’ Lukaš Jašek is suspended for three (3) matches. Jašek is suspended for Ilves’ next three matches, the decision reads.

Czech striker Jašek, 28, has scored 9+40=49 in 53 league matches this season. He is currently Ilves’ best scorer.

Ilves is sixth in the series. It lost to KooKoo 1–5 on Saturday.
