The Haarlem couple arrived in Doha on Friday evening. The two had to travel twelve hours in Qatar before they could continue their journey to New Zealand. Initially, nothing seemed wrong, Frank tells NH.
“We went on an excursion to Doha yesterday. Until all the mobile phones on the bus went on alarm. The bus driver turned around.”
‘It’s just not realistic’
“It’s so unreal,” he continues. He and his wife are now in a hotel in Doha. “You think about an exercise when the emergency alarm goes off. It’s just not realistic.” It only became ‘real’ for them in the departure hall of the airport. “You can’t leave, you realize there. And it became completely real when we heard bangs in bed at night.”
