It is a story aimed at children that addresses raising awareness about caring for the environment, paying special attention to the loss of biodiversity and the consequences that environmental disasters generate in nature.
The protagonist is the Curiyú snake, who plays the role of rescuer: a native animal, which is often feared, but in this story it assumes a supportive and protective role.
It is a narrative experience that invites you to value all living beings, regardless of their size, appearance or the fear they may generate.
—How did the idea come about? What inspired you to write this book?
The idea arose from a request from my editor, and I found it a very enriching challenge, since until then I had not worked in this genre.
While I was beginning to think about possible approaches, I was deeply impacted by the fires that were occurring in the province of Corrientes, a problem that unfortunately is frequently repeated in our country. Talking with my husband about how to approach this topic for children, we began to name native animals and the figure of the Curiyú appeared. From there, the story began to take shape.
—The book has a strong environmental message. What would you like it to generate in those who read it?
The message invites reflection, both in children and adults, because it is a story to read as a family. I would like us to reflect on our responsibility to the ecosystem. We are not alone: we share the environment with other forms of life and it is a necessity to learn to respect each other. I would like to awaken the love for our Argentina and the desire to visit its provinces.
