Paul McCartney gets it “Man On The Run” a new documentation was provided. It’s mainly about his time with the Wings in the 70s and was also co-produced by the Beatle.
To mark the occasion, Macca published a on its website interviewin which he was also asked about his film preferences.
He told his fans that he really enjoys documentaries. One that “really impressed” him recently was 2021’s “Cow,” can be seen at MUBI. The film comes from Andrea Arnold (who made the better adaptation of “Wuthering Heights”) and documents the ordinary life of a dairy cow. “It’s pretty hard to watch, but it’s also very good. It reminded me of Linda’s song of the same name, which is just as strong.”
McCartney then shared other films that he watches again and again:
- “Get Out” (“I think Jordan Peele did a great job”)
- “The Girl Can’t Help It”/“Schlagerpiraten” (“I’ve loved it for a long time and watch it again and again”)
- “The Fist in the Neck” (“With Marlon Brando, a fantastic film”)
- “The Last Waltz” (“It rounds the whole thing off nicely”)
The songwriter then contacted the film fan platform Letterboxd where he listed the above films as his favorites.
For McCartney, watching “Man On The Run” was like a time in his life “that just passed by before my eyes.” The 83-year-old continued: “He’s wonderful because he’s full of different emotions and facets. For me it’s especially nice to see Linda so often, that’s great for me and the children.”
Despite all the beautiful moments, “Man On The Run” wasn’t always easy to endure, McCartney also admitted. “There are parts that are embarrassing,” said the singer. “I actually asked Morgan Neville (the director, editor’s note) if we should cut out some of those parts, like the one where I’m singing ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’ with a red nose and the band is wearing silly outfits. I thought maybe we don’t need that. But he said no, that it worked and that the ending felt more honest with all the ups and downs. I think he’s right.”
“Man On The Run” has been available on Amazon Prime Video since Friday (February 27).
