On Thursday evening (February 26th), GEMA awarded the “German Music Authors Prize” (DMAP) – the most prestigious music prize in the “E” and “U” landscape of the country – at a festive gala at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin.
A highlight of the celebrations was the honor for Udo Lindenberg, who will celebrate his 80th cradle festival in May.
Actor Joachim Krol took to the podium in his incomparable Ruhrpott/Südstadt-Cologne style and told a story from real life.
“Can we poof somewhere at your place?”
As a young hippie, the now 68-year-old was traveling in the Far North. When they arrived in Hamburg, the long-haired people lacked money and accommodation.
The first address for the young drop-outs was the Hanseatic jazz stronghold “Unkel Pö”. Here Krol and his friend tried their luck. In the back corner sat an illustrious figure who turned out to be Udo Lindenberg.
Krol took courage and spoke to the jazz drummer, who was still semi-prominent at the time: “Can we poof somewhere with you?”
Pragmatist Lindenberg had nothing free in his apartment, but something was going on with a band he was friends with. The beginning of a long friendship.
