The Dresden Ice Lions suffered their next defeat in the German Ice Hockey League on Friday evening. They lost 3:4 (0:1, 1:0, 2:3) to the Nuremberg Ice Tigers. The American Cole Maier became a hero for the guests when he single-handedly turned the game from 3-1 to 3-4 with a hat-trick in the final phase.
Tears dry, spread confidence for the reconstruction – this was the motto that officials and fans of the Ice Lions had after fixed descent issued from the DEL. Fox puts Dresden in the lead
In the second third, Dresden found its way into the game better – and benefited from numerous Nuremberg penalties. A goal from Andrew LeBlanc was disallowed after 27 minutes. However, Dane Fox’s power play goal five minutes later counted. Balance. As a result, both teams repeatedly clashed, which resulted in further penalties.
It took a few minutes in the final third before the game picked up momentum again. The moment came when Nuremberg was outnumbered after 46 minutes. Once again it was ex-Ice Tiger Fox who put Dresden in the lead in the power play (48th). Two minutes later, David Suvanto was able to increase the score to 3:1. But Cole Maier had success against an ice lion. In the 53rd minute he initiated the comeback and in the 56th he scored the equalizer with the advantage. And 30 seconds before the end of the game, the attacker scored the final point and secured Nuremberg’s victory.
