Speed skating talent Finn Sonnekalb put up with his Olympic disappointment well and won two gold medals at the start of the Junior World Championships in Inzell.
The 18-year-old from Erfurt won clearly on Friday over his branch route 500 m in a personal best time of 35.14 seconds. He was then clearly ahead over his favorite distance of 1500 m in 1:44.87 minutes.
Last year, Sonnekalb won three gold medals at the Junior World Championships in Collalbo, Italy. At the Winter Games in Milan, however, he fell short of expectations with places 12 (1000 m) and 13 (1500 m), partly because of the consequences of an infection.
