From March 12, the ‘Regulation on value increase in buildings for gas extraction in Groningenveld’ will open for the last time. Through this scheme, owners can receive a subsidy of up to €4,000 for making their building more sustainable.

Buildings with damage

The subsidy has existed since 2017 and is intended as compensation for the slow handling of earthquake damage resulting from gas extraction from the Groningen field or the Norg gas storage. This compensation consists of damages aimed at making homes and buildings more sustainable. Residents who have at least €1,000 in recognized earthquake damage, for example a damage report from the IMG, can apply for a maximum of €4,000 in subsidy. The subsidy is for energy-saving or sustainability measures, such as solar panels, insulation or a heat pump. The subsidy is implemented by the Northern Netherlands Partnership (SNN).

Last open

The maximum budget for this scheme has almost been reached. There is now still more than 15 million euros available. The subsidy will therefore now be extended for the last time until September 1, 2026 at the latest. If the remaining budget runs out earlier, the subsidy will stop sooner.

Prepare

Residents who have not yet taken advantage of the subsidy can still apply for it from March 12. They can prepare the application in advance, for example by requesting a quote for the work they want to have carried out. It is important that they only sign the quotation after they have received the damage acknowledgment. More information about the conditions can be found on the SNN website.
