NUREMBERG (dpa-AFX) – Amid difficult economic conditions, the Federal Employment Agency in Nuremberg announced its monthly statistics for February on Friday. It is expected that the number of unemployed will remain above the three million mark.
Recently there have been few positive signs that would have shown a significant improvement in the labor market situation that has been difficult for years. Labor market researcher Enzo Weber from the Institute for Labor Market and Vocational Training (IAB) recently stated that 15,000 industrial jobs were being lost in Germany every month.
The CEO of the Federal Employment Agency, Andrea Nahles, complained that jobs with high added value were currently being lost. For the first time since the corona pandemic, there will be fewer people in employment this year than last year. Nahles does not see any significant improvement for 2026, but there are signs of a certain recovery in the second half of the year./dm/DP/jha
