ThSV Eisenach and HC Erlangen drew 25:25 (13:10) in a hard-fought game on matchday 23. A result that doesn’t really help either team in the fight to stay in the league. The best thrower of the game was Felix Aellen with eleven hits. Eisenach’s keeper Matija Spikic made twelve strong saves.

Both teams were nervous at the start of the game. It took over four minutes for Tillman Lau to score the first goal. It was an initial phase on equal terms, but without any major highlights. After twelve minutes, ThSV was able to pull away for the first time with two goals. As a result, the hosts had several chances to pull away, but failed either because of the Erlanger keeper or because of too many technical errors in the attack. The guests stayed within striking distance until the break.

Tension until the last throw

After the break, goalkeeper Spikic became more and more of a factor in Eisenach’s game. However, the attack was becoming increasingly difficult, with the exception of playmaker Felix Aellen. Erlangen shifted up a gear defensively and made it difficult for ThSV to take clear actions. The lead gradually disappeared and the guests took the lead in the final phase (53′) for the first time in the game (22:23).

The advantage was now on Erlanger’s side and the HC had the chance to win with the score at 25:25 and 30 seconds on the clock. However, the throw hit the post and Eisenach had nine seconds left to decide the game. However, Peter Walz’s hip throw landed next to the goal and so the score remained tied and the points were shared.
